Harley Augustino, Executive & Training Director


With over 25 years of experience as a labor, tenant, student, and community organizer, Harley Augustino has held many pivotal roles including non-profit Executive Director, Training Director, Development Director, Union Organizing Director, Campaign Manager, and Elected Official. His journey in organizing has been profoundly shaped by training from United Farm Worker Co-Founder Dolores Huerta, 15 years organizing food service workers with unions UNITE HERE and SEIU, and by the many organizers he has trained over the years.

Currently, Harley serves as the Executive Director for Base Building for Power, an international organization dedicated to training the next generation of working class organizers. Since 2021, Base Building for Power has successfully trained more than 700 organizers throughout the US, Canada, and beyond. Harley works with labor and community organizations globally to provide comprehensive in-person and virtual training and coaching support, in both English and Spanish.

In 2025, he started the Basebuilding for Power YouTube channel, featuring hundreds of videos on the fundamentals of organizing.

Harley and his husband are currently nomadic but maintain a home base in Harley’s hometown of San Francisco, CA, where he moonlights as a jazz saxophone musician and has a bearded dragon named Mingus.
