Canvassing can make the difference between winning and losing elections. It is also a critical tool for building your movement, strengthening your organization, and developing local leadership.

This unique opportunity combines group online instruction with hands-on, in-the-field training. It is open to anyone, anywhere, who wants to organize for racial and economic justice and learn or improve their canvassing skills.

Details of the Program

The Canvassing School includes five training and canvassing sessions during the two-week program.

Each session includes:

  • One hour of live online training

  • Two hours of door knocking in your community

  • A 30-minute online report-back and additional training

  • Additional YouTube videos and free training materials

Participants will choose from several scheduling options.

Participants are encouraged to apply in pairs, but applying with someone else is not required.

The program will focus on:

  • The rising cost of living

  • Recruiting volunteers

  • Having effective conversations with voters

  • The importance of voting in 2026

  • Building long-term organizing capacity

Door knocking will take place in hot weather and rain, so participants should prepare appropriately.
